Both Kansas City Roos basketball teams beat Omaha after three-week COVID hiatus
After a three-week layoff because of game cancellations related to COVID-19, the Kansas City Roos basketball teams returned to the court and won Monday.
Arkel Lamar scored 20 points as the Roos men edged Omaha 64-61 at Swinney Center. In Nebraska, Brooklyn McDavid and Naomie Alnatas each had 22 points as the Roos women beat Omaha 73-64.
Marvin Nesbitt Jr. had 16 points and eight rebounds for the KC men (7-6, 2-1 Summit League), who earned their fourth straight home victory. Evan Gilyard II added 15 points and seven assists. Jacob Johnson had six rebounds.
Nick Ferrarini had 17 points for the Mavericks (3-14, 2-4).
The Roos return to Swinney Center for a 7 p.m. Tuesday nonconference game against Baptist Bible before returning to Summit play Saturday at home against Oral Roberts at 7 p.m.
The Kansas City women (11-3, 1-2) got their first conference win. Omaha fell to 6-9, 2-4. Their next game is 2 p.m. Saturday at Oral Roberts.
