KC Comets update: Red-hot and rolling, Comets push MASL record to league-best 6-0
The Kansas City Comets continue to set the pace in the Major Arena Soccer League with a 6-0 record to start the season.
With their latest victory, 9-3 against the Sidekicks in Dallas over the weekend, the Comets now lead the MASL Central Division by nine points.
“We had a plan, we knew what we needed to do, and we stuck with it and it worked out,” Comets player/coach Leo Gibson said. “So we are very happy with the performance.”
Gibson got things started in Dallas with his ninth goal of the season and James Togbah scored unassisted to make it 2-0 at the end of the first quarter. Matt Lewis scored the 800th road goal for the Comets, and rookie Christian Anderaos’ first goal for KC made it 4-2 by halftime.
“We controlled the game in the second half,” Gibson said. “We played with more composure. We possessed the ball a lot more, and that helped wear them down and that helped our transition game.”
