KC Comets indoor pro-soccer team is 2-0 entering Saturday game at Dallas Sidekicks
The Kansas City Comets, off to a 2-0 start in their 2021-22 indoor pro-soccer season, play at the Dallas Sidekicks on Saturday night.
Here’s a bit more about that game, along with an overview of what else is going on with the team.
First of six
The Comets will play the Sidekicks six times this season. Saturday evening’s game is the first, and it will take place at the Allen Event Center in the Dallas suburb of Allen, Texas.
The Comets swept the Sidekicks in four meetings last season and are 7-1 all-time against them in Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) competition.
Unbeaten so far
The Comets are 2-0 thanks to a pair of victories over cross-state rival St. Louis, the most recent an 11-6 decision last Saturday that was fueled by hat tricks from player/coach Leo Gibson and Kevin Ellis.
Gibson leads the Comets with seven points (five goals, two assists). Other top scorers for KC include John Sosa (three goals, two assists) and Ray Lee (two goals, two assists).
Former Sporting KC player Ellis scored four goals against Dallas last season, including a hat trick.
Comets goalkeeper Nicolau Neto has a 5.0 goals-against average and .775 save percentage.
Next home game
The Comets return to Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence on Sunday, Dec. 19 to face the Baltimore Blast at 4 p.m.
