The Kansas City Comets on Friday rolled out some big names right after the Thanksgiving holiday.

The team’s new title and jersey sponsor is CommunityAmerica Credit Union, a KC-based organization that will serve as the exclusive banking and mortgage partner for the Comets through the 2021-22 and 2022-23 season.

CommunityAmerica Credit Union follows in the footsteps of Domino’s as the team’s sponsor. Local Domino’s franchise owners Jamie and Melissa Poulsen joined the Comets’ ownership group last spring. Domino’s had been the team’s title sponsor for the previous six seasons.

The CommunityAmerica Credit Union logo will be worn across the chest of all Comets jerseys for the next two seasons. The CommunityAmerica logo will also appear on the team’s specialty match jerseys for their annual Pink Game, benefiting The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation; the Military Appreciation Game, benefiting Team Fidelis; and retro jerseys celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Comets’ arrival in Kansas City.

The CommunityAmerica Credit Union logo will also appear on all Comets replica jerseys sold at the arena, on the team’s online store and through other outside vendors. The partnership also includes title sponsorship of the Jan. 22 showcase match at T-Mobile Center featuring the Comets against the Tacoma Stars.

“CommunityAmerica is everything we look for in a title sponsor,” said Comets vice president of business operations Scott Levinson. “They are a Kansas City-based company that is heavily involved and invested in our community. We are thrilled to have such an outstanding brand associated with the Comets.”

“We love the high-energy, family-friendly game experience the Comets bring to our region,” said CommunityAmerica Credit Union chief marketing and strategy officer Whitney Bartelli. “It’s always a great fit when we find strong partners who share our commitment to the KC fan base and helping our community continue to thrive.”

The Comets will unveil new 2021-22 kits featuring CommunityAmerica branding this weekend: on Friday night at the St. Louis Ambush in St. Charles, and Saturday at home against the Ambush at Cable Dahmer Arena.

Comets single game tickets are available at 888-9-COMETS or at ticketmaster.com.

Also late this week, the Comets announced the signing of defender Kyle McLagan to a partial-season contract.

McLagan, son of former Comets star Doug McLagan, is a Lee’s Summit native who played high school soccer at Rockhurst. A former All-Metro and MSHSAA Player of the Year, he led Rockhurst to a Missouri state title as a senior and was selected to the Choice Hotels All-America team.

“I am excited to play for the Comets again in Kansas City,” McLagan said. “I can’t wait to contribute to what I think will be a championship season.”

In college, McLagan was first-team All-Southern Conference in 2016 during his senior season at Furman University in Greenville, SC.

“As a true son, Kyle represents everything that is right with the crest on the front and the name on the back of his jersey,” said Comets managing partner Brian Budzinski.
