Northwest Missouri gets home game in opening round of Division II football playoffs

Three MIAA teams made the 28-team NCAA Division II football playoff field Sunday, led by conference champion Northwest Missouri.

The Bearcats (9-1) are the No. 3 seed in Super Region 3 and will play Central Washington at 1 p.m. Saturday in Maryville, Missouri.

Washburn (9-2) will play on the road in round one against No. 2 regional seed Harding at 1 p.m. Saturday in Searcy, Arkansas.

The winners of those first-round games will play in the second round on Nov. 27. Ferris State has a first-round bye and will play the winner of fourth-seeded Grand Valley State and Lindenwood in round two.

Nebraska-Kearney (9-2) will play the No. 3 in Super Region 4, Western Colorado, at 2 p.m. Saturday in Gunnison, Colorado.
