Oak Park High grad Reichert helps lead Rockhurst to Division II volleyball semifinals
The third-seeded Rockhurst volleyball team is one win from an appearance in the NCAA Division II national championship match.
Rockhurst beat sixth-seeded Carson-Newman in straight sets Thursday (25-12, 25-23, 25-20) in the Div. II quarterfinals at the Auraria Events Center in Aurora, Colorado. The Hawks have reached the semifinals for the second time in three years.
Senior Karli Reichert, a product of Oak Park High School, had nine kills and Alyssa Woodman added eight. Dani Prusha had 26 assists, 11 digs and four kills.
With the win, 19th-ranked Rockhurst (33-7) advances to a match Friday against No. 2 Nebraska-Kearney at 6 p.m. Central. Win that one and Rockhurst plays for the national title Saturday, also at 6 p.m. Central.
Rockhurst coach Tracy Rietzke, the all-time winningest coach in Division II, now has 1,277 victories — fourth in career wins for all three NCAA levels.
