T-Bones’ ballpark to host two-game pro fastpitch softball series
Two National Pro Fastpitch League softball teams will play a two-game series Thursday and Friday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
The USSSA Florida Pride, who have former Missouri ace Chelsea Thomas on its roster, and the Dallas Charge will play at 7:35 p.m. Thursday and 7 p.m. Friday. Tickets are available at the box office or by calling 913-328-5618.
The games will be played during the Top Gun Invitational youth tournament, which will bring more than 110 teams from at least 20 states to the Kansas City area. There will be an instructional camp Thursday at Blue Valley Rec with players from both teams serving as coaches. More information about the camp is available by emailing fastpitch@playmsp.com.
Thomas, who currently pitches for the Pride, was the Tigers’ first three-time All-American. She went 111-31, setting the MU record for wins, with a 1.23 ERA and a career-record 1,174 strikeouts from 2009-13. The Pride and Charge will also play a two-game series on June 15-16 at University Field in Columbia.
