Watch Andy Reid, Robb Heineman and area athletes take Ice Bucket Challenge

The Ice Bucket Challenge, which is designed to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, has swept the nation.

Facebook told Time.com that 1.2 million unique videos related to the challenge have been posted on the social media site.

The ALS Association says that between July 29 and Aug. 12, it and its 38 chapters have received an $4 million in donations compared to $1.12 million during the same time period last year.

Locally, there have been a number of challenges. Here are some of them.
