Mavericks report: Road warriors play once at home and twice away this week
The Missouri Mavericks got their season record back to even with a 3-1 showing through four hockey games last week.
They’ve proven tough to beat on the road, too, going 5-2-1 in their last eight after starting the season 0-4-0 away from Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. This bodes well for the next couple of weeks, as five of Missouri’s next seven are on the road.
Mavs’ ECHL record: 8-8-1, fourth in Mountain Division.
Last week (3-1-0): The Mavs won 4-3 in overtime at Orlando on Nov. 21, then suffered their only loss of week in a 7-2 decision at Orlando the next night. Dane Fox forced overtime in the first game with 2:53 left in regulation, and Ville Husso stopped a 2-on-0 breakaway that led to Sam Povorozniouk’s coast-to-coast winner in OT. The seven goals allowed to the Solar Bears the following day were the most the Mavs have given up this season. But they collected a pair of victories at Indy on Saturday and Sunday, winning 6-1 and 2-1. Five players scored against the Fuel Saturday and Josh Robinson stopped 22 shots for his fourth win of the season. The next day, Ville Husso recorded 41 saves and Kevin Tansey scored Missouri’s first shorthanded goal of the season.
