Kansas Jayhawks move up one spot in Associated Press men’s basketball Top 25 rankings
Kansas men’s basketball has jumped from No. 4 to No. 3 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25.
The Jayhawks (12-1), who erased a 15-point halftime deficit to trip Oklahoma State 69-67 on Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse, benefited from previous No. 2 UConn (13-1) losing to Xavier (83-73) on Saturday in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Purdue (13-0), which received 60 of 61 first-place votes, remained No. 1, while Houston (14-1) moved from No. 3 to 2. UConn dropped to No 4. The Huskies received a first-place vote despite that loss to Xavier. The Missouri Tigers entered the poll at No. 20.
Kansas is No. 3 followed by UConn (4), Arizona (5), Texas (6), Alabama (7), Tennessee (8), Gonzaga (9) and UCLA (10) in the top 10.
Virginia is No. 11 followed by Miami, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Indiana, Duke, TCU, Xavier, Baylor, Missouri, New Mexico, Auburn, Charleston, Ohio State and Iowa State.
Others receiving votes: LSU, San Diego State, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Kansas State, Illinois, Marquette, Providence, Virginia Tech, Memphis, West Virginia, Michigan State, Florida Atlantic and Creighton.
The Jayhawks will next meet unranked Texas Tech at 8 p.m. Tuesday at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas. The game will be shown on ESPN2.
