Mom arrested after bed-ridden 7-year-old daughter is found dead at home, TX cops say

A mother in Texas was arrested Friday after her bed-ridden daughter was found dead during a welfare check, police say.

Just after 2:30 p.m., police in Bay City were called for a welfare check at a local apartment, according to news release.

When they arrived, they found a 7-year-old girl — who’d been bed-ridden due to medical conditions — dead, police say. Two other children, ages 3 months and 5, were also living at the home and were removed by officials.

The children’s mother, Lauren Dean, 26, was arrested and faces three charges of abandon endanger a child – imminent danger bodily injury, the release said.

An investigation is underway, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Stephen Lunsford or Detective Reyna Perez at 979-245-8500.

Bay City is roughly 80 miles southwest of Houston.
