Supporters of Clean Missouri changes confident of prevailing at the ballot box

One of the key organizers of the so-called Clean Missouri amendment says he’s confident voters will reject changes in that amendment this November.

Sean Soendker Nicholson was behind the original Clean Missouri project, and is leading the effort to protect that work this year. Republicans in the Missouri legislature have proposed changes to Clean Missouri, called Amendment 3, that include a major adjustment in how state legislative districts are drawn.

Clean Missouri largely handed the district-drawing job to an appointed demographer. Amendment 3 would give the task to a more politically-oriented board.

Soendker Nicholson said voters would reject Amendment 3 because they approved the original Clean Missouri amendment just two years ago, and by a wide margin.

Soendker Nicholson appeared on “4Star Politics,” the digital political program produced by WDAF-Fox 4 and The Kansas City Star. Loren Halifax and Dave Helling hosted Wednesday’s program.

A supporter of Amendment 3 will appear in a later program.

Wednesday’s 4Star Politics also includes Pat McInerney, a local attorney, and Sam Zeff of KCUR in Kansas City. They discussed the integrity of voting this year and developments at City Hall.
