Another COVID-19 stimulus bill? Rep. Emanuel Cleaver predicts a compromise in Congress
U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver said Wednesday that Congress will reach a compromise on a COVID-19 stimulus package.
“We’re going to have a stimulus,” Cleaver, a Kansas City Democrat, said.
Negotiators have reported little progress on a package in recent days. President Donald Trump signed a series of orders and memoranda over the weekend, but it isn’t clear whether relief will be on its way to Americans any time soon.
The congressman joined John Holt of FOX4 and Dave Helling of The Star Editorial Board for this week’s edition of “4Star Politics.”
The hosts also talked with Missouri state Rep. Barbara Anne Washington about the General Assembly’s special session focused on violent crime. Washington, also a Democrat, said progress on a crime bill has stalled, but that she expects some package to emerge at the end of August.
