Kris Kobach, Roger Marshall take their best shot ahead of Kansas GOP Senate primary
Republican Senate candidates Roger Marshall and Kris Kobach are making their final appeals to Kansas voters this week — and poking at each other.
In separate appearances on “4Star Politics,” a digital program produced by The Star and WDAF-TV, Marshall pointed to his endorsements from a wide array of Republicans as a reason he should win the Aug. 4 GOP primary for Kansas’ open U.S. Senate seat.
Kobach was critical of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a fellow Republican, and said he wants to go to Washington, D.C., to continue his work on immigration reform and other national security concerns.
Marshall and Kobach are considered front-runners in the crowded Republican primary. The nominee will take on likely Democratic nominee Barbara Bollier in November. The winner of that race will take the Senate seat now held by the retiring Sen. Pat Roberts.
This week’s “4Star Politics” also includes an interview with Derek Ellis, a longshot candidate for the GOP nomination.
The hosts are John Holt of Fox 4/WDAF, and Dave Helling of The Star Editorial Board.
