Kansas GOP Senate candidate Dave Lindstrom defends federal presence in Portland

Dave Lindstrom, a Republican candidate for Kansas’ open U.S. Senate seat, defended the federal response to protests in Oregon and other states in an interview with The Kansas City Star and FOX4.

On a new episode of “4Star Politics,” Lindstrom discussed his views on re-opening schools in Kansas and across the nation, saying he thought those decisions should be made at the local level.

So does the same principle apply to security officers and others making arrests in Portland, Oregon, where local officials have asked the federal personnel to leave?

Lindstrom said the two circumstances were very different. With the protesters, he said, the federal government had to intervene when local officials would not.

This week’s edition of “4Star Politics” also includes a discussion with Brian Matlock, another Kansas Republican Senate candidate.
