Kansas 3rd District GOP candidates give Trump high marks for COVID-19 response
All five Republican candidates for the Kansas 3rd Congressional District seat gave President Donald Trump high marks for his response to the COVID-19 pandemic during a Monday debate.
The candidates — Sara Hart Weir, Amanda Adkins, Adrienne Vallejo Foster, Tom Love and Mike Beehler — said Trump deserves no less than a “B” grade, and some gave him an “A.”
Adkins said the nation’s overall response deserved a “C,” but she gave Trump a higher grade for an aggressive response to the pandemic. Beehler said Trump had been given bad advice by Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and others.
All five candidates said they would stand with the president on a stage if he campaigns in the area.
The comments came as the five exchanged views on COVID-19, education, health care, recent Black Lives Matter protests and how to most effectively “drain the swamp.” The forum was co-hosted by John Holt of FOX4 and Dave Helling of the The Star Editorial Board.
The winner of the Republican primary will face U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids in the 3rd District race this fall.
