Letter of the week: If I were president for six months
If president for 6 months
I would like to be president of the United States for six months. After turning all but national security issues over to trusted administrative staff, I would spend three months aboard Air Force One going to as many communities as a 15-hour day would permit to talk with our people about what a great deal we all have as citizens of this country.
I would be a cheerleader for the goodness and generosity that flows from our land because we are free. I would explain that we are truly the land of opportunity, again, because we are free.
I would spend my remaining three months overseas telling the world how great our country is because we are free and wish to share such benefits with all of mankind. Finally, I would return home to promote tolerance and accommodation among our elected leaders, reminding them of our Constitution and the peace, prosperity and respect for others it provides.
