Letters to the editor: No, I’m not a socialist, and I don’t think you’re a fascist
Turn down heat
There is a finite amount of tax revenue in our country. Depending on the party you belong to, you might want to increase or decrease that revenue somewhat, or at least do some rearranging of the budget.
Democrats generally want that sliding scale of revenue to further support humanitarian efforts, and Republicans and Libertarians generally want our government to support businesses. Most people in all parties believe in capitalism and a free market.
Nowadays, as a Democrat, I am often called a socialist and/or a communist. I am neither. The Democrats I know do not subscribe to those sociopolitical ideologies either.
Currently, much of the Republican Party supports President Donald Trump. Democrats see him as a dictator wannabe. Does this make his supporters fascists?I bet not a single Republican would raise a hand and claim to be one.
All the accusations of what the other is by the opposing party is a way to demonize that political party and to stir up emotions of hatred and division. All the name-calling and rhetoric sound like two toddlers arguing and never getting anywhere.
For the sake of the country we all love, stop the manipulation and work on solving problems with civility.

Drop them off
Because of the mail service being unreliable in getting mail-in ballots to election offices on time, could Missouri and Kansas polling places install exterior, locked drop boxes where voters could leave ballots without having to enter the buildings, as some states already do?
