Letters: Readers discuss Larry Ray calling KC Blues games and protesters overreaching
That’s color
After reading Vahe Gregorian’s column on the challenges of broadcasting during the pandemic (July 26, 1B, “Royals broadcasters making best of situation”), I remember going with a church group in about 1949 to watch Larry Ray call a Kansas City Blues game on the radio when the team was out of town.
It was a shock to see that the news feed from the game came on ticker tape, so Ray had only the bare essentials. He made up all the entertaining comments and descriptions of what the players were doing.
He had a very colorful imagination. I am still an avid fan.

Out of control
If you enjoy breaking things and throwing bricks through windows, you must think this is your golden age. You also probably enjoy tearing down statues of past heroes and events.
When will you start on the big ones: the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial and the White House? You probably have Mount Rushmore as a super prize to destroy.
Have we gone crazy? When will it stop? It will stop when we start doing something about it.
