Letters: Readers discuss 4-Hers at the Johnson County Fair and kudos to the KC police

It’s fair time

Year after year, the Johnson County Fair in Gardner provides a network of opportunities for 4-Hers to display projects, present speeches and discover new possibilities for future years. From art to livestock and everything in between, 4-Hers find joy in preparing their projects.

This quality education begins even before they journey to the fairgrounds. The experience starts in the home, fields, gardens or wherever the project is developed. Within the fairgrounds, judges focus on encouraging while still improving entries.

Even with all the changes the world has endured over the past few months, the fair remains open to the public from July 26 through Aug. 1. Bring your family and friends, browse the 4-H building and enjoy the rides, because the 2020 Johnson County Fair is coming soon.

Great policing

This is an open letter to the fine men and women of the Kansas City Police Department. I’ve had the chance to interact with several officers over the years, both as a civilian and as a private officer. I even trained with you at times years ago.

Yours is the most professional and well-trained department I’ve been around. I know you get respect from the residents and admiration from visitors.

I just want to say thank you and keep up the fantastic job you do. Stay safe.

- Michael Partain, Kansas City
