Letters: Readers discuss how Denver beats KC and all eyes on Mahomes and Mathieu
Healthy norm
We just returned from the Denver area to see family. The high proportion of people wearing masks there was in stark contrast to what I see here in Kansas City.
Outside stores in Denver, signs say, “No mask, no service,” or “We request all customers wear masks.” Inside the stores, every shopper and employee was masked. By making it a societal norm in the city, individuals don’t have to decide if they should.
Grocery stores don’t require masks in Kansas City, but many dance studios and college campuses do. Kansas City is confused.
Please, Mayor Quinton Lucas, help us create the masking norm for indoor shared spaces in Kansas City to prevent the spread of COVID-19. I hardly ever use the logic of “Everybody’s doing it” with my teenagers, but for this, I’m good with it.

Watch the way
Dear Patrick Mahomes and Tyrann Mathieu,
Thank you for stepping up and speaking out on the need for racial reform. With the entire world watching, I have one request: Please use your platform in a way that leaves no room for misinterpretation.
I’m reminded of the saying “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Colin Kaepernick’s message was lost when he chose to take a knee during the national anthem. The result speaks for itself. Your opportunity awaits you. Choose wisely. Your fans are watching.
