Letters: Readers discuss medical workers fighting COVID-19 and great KC walking paths
Real bravery
My youngest daughter is an intensive-care-unit nurse at a major Kansas City hospital. Last week, she began working in the COVID-19 ICU unit.
As a father, I fear for her safety, and as a grandfather, I fear the potential worst-case scenario of her children becoming infected. But, more so, I am extremely proud of the selflessness and the bravery demonstrated by not only my daughter, but by all the medical personnel who are soldiers in this war.
All of them should receive the recognition and honor given to front-line military soldiers. For at the end of the day, our local community and the entire country owe them that recognition and honor.
But unlike military soldiers, when they chose their professions, they didn’t sign up to risk their lives. Yet they do so willingly and selflessly day in and day out during this war.
Because of that, each and every one of them is a true hero. May God bless them and keep them safe.

Paths to health
Thank you to Kansas City Parks and Recreation and the city of Kansas City for all the paved walking paths throughout our community. When it is essential to go out and get some exercise and fresh air during the pandemic, we have many wide, safe walkways to enjoy and still be safe.
