Letters: Readers discuss overly-aggressive security at KCI and unbelievable senators
Intrusive action
I received an inappropriate pat-down from airport security at Kansas City International Airport earlier this month. When I went through the imaging machine at the security checkpoint, it sent an alert to the agent. I had a baggage receipt in my pocket and I was wearing a belt, which the agent discovered after I lifted my shirt. The belt set off the machine.
I was told that I had to submit to a pat-down. I went to a private area with two agents and was patted down by one of them on my behind, hips and crotch. She also looked down the top of my pants.
I think it was an overreaction and a violation of my rights. I wouldn’t have had a problem with walking through the scanner again without the belt and receipt.
I hope Akal Security, the company that performs security at KCI, is given stricter guidelines to follow or its contract is terminated.
I did not deserve to be violated that way.
- Shannon French, Kansas City
Some performance
The Academy Award for best acting should go to the U.S. senators who stood and swore they would provide a fair and unbiased opinion in the impeachment trial. On both sides of the aisle, they were able to do that without cracking a smile. Now that is acting that deserves an Oscar.
