Thanks, Wildcats

My sincere gratitude to the many friends, family, Kansas Staters, former coaches and former players who traveled to Houston for the 34th Paul “Bear” Bryant Awards ceremony, where I received the Lifetime Achievement Award last week. Your presence and support meant so very much to me and my family, as did the humbling award.

This long-standing yearly event bestows the most prominent coaching awards in college football, and is presented by the Bryant family and the American Heart Association. The partnership has raised millions of dollars for vital heart and stroke research.

I am also grateful for those hundreds who sent congratulatory messages after viewing the event on television. It will take time, but I will eventually respond to each one.

We are so very fortunate to have such amazing support. With eternal gratitude, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Not shocking

Without mentioning any names, I would like to share a lesson electricians learn by experience: If you concentrate too much power in one place, you will likely get a short circuit that results in an interruption of service.

In politics and government, it is more aptly called a “short circus.” In either case, too much power in one place can be dangerous.

It’s why we have breakers, checks and balances.
