Letters: Readers discuss Hawley’s preemptive Senate strike and Trump’s innocence

Want to hear

I was very disappointed to read that Sen. Josh Hawley introduced a resolution to summarily dismiss the impeachment articles against President Donald Trump. (Jan. 7, 4A, “Hawley unveils plan to halt impeachment”)

That says to me that he doesn’t want to hear any of the evidence. That he doesn’t care what the president is being charged with. That he isn’t willing even to listen with a fair and impartial ear to the charges brought against Trump.

Hawley’s job is to be our voice in Washington. I would like him to do his job. I would like to hear the evidence. I would like to know what the Democrats are claiming. I want to know what happened. I think Hawley is abdicating his constitutional responsibility by introducing this resolution.

We, the people, have a right to know what is happening. We have a right to hear the evidence. We have a right to hear from former national security adviser John Bolton, acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney and the other potential witnesses.

It’s obvious

President Donald Trump’s right. I know he is, no doubt about it, because Trump told me he was right. Would the man have said it if it weren’t true?

So let’s get those witnesses in to back up Trump and bring out those papers that have been blocked and get this show on the road.

Way to go Mr. President: You’ll show them that you did no wrong.
