Letters: Readers discuss a plea for Christian leadership and thanks to a bus driver
A moral guide
I keep thinking some nationally influential Christian leader will stand up and denounce President Donald Trump. I keep thinking we will show the world what following Christ really means. That said, God used prostitutes and even an ass to do his work on Earth.
So here I am. Speaking when too many voices in the church are silent.
We will know one another by the fruits of the spirit, according to Galatians 5:19-23 and 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. We can also be assured that people will lie about following Jesus, James 2:24 and 1 John 2:4 tell us.
Trump has used the church. And what has it cost the church? As in Acts 1:8, it has weakened the church’s witness.
How? Let me keep it simple.
If someone were to write a children’s book about our president, the stories would go as follows: He would be the character who doesn’t show respect to elders or those in authority. He would be the character who doesn’t do anything nice unless he gets something in return. He would not be the good Samaritan. He would not be the hero. Not in a secular children’s book and not in a Christian one, as in Ephesians 4:14-15.
We can follow Revelation 2:2 and change the association. Let’s ask for his impeachment. America deserves at minimum a children’s book hero.

Got my turn
Kudos to the bus driver who let me make a right turn into downtown traffic about 7 p.m. Wednesday. It made my trip to the theater much smoother.
