House Republicans voted last week to sue President Barack Obama. And in a stunning political debacle, House Speaker John Boehner on Thursday was forced to withdraw a border-security bill in the face of tea party opposition and an uprising led by Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.

Is it any wonder that a recent Gallup poll found the public’s favorable rating for Congress at a historic low: Those who have “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in the body amount to 7 percent.

Congress deserves credit for its bipartisan, 11th-hour response to a service and management crisis in the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Yet it’s quite possible everyone is ready for vacation now. And as Congress members pull up to the beach, we want to know what’s on your mind.
