The Monday Poll: Who’s responsible for Kansas’ public schools crisis?
The funding of public schools in Kansas is — again — in the news, this time with a potentially devastating twist: Schools might not be open after June 30.
The state Supreme Court ruled in late May that the Legislature had not constitutionally funded the K-12 system.
The court said lawmakers need to have in place a legal financing plan or, the justices say, the schools effectively must be closed after the end of this month.
