The Monday Poll: American Royal barbecue’s best home?

One might think the annual American Royal World Series of Barbecue was still a critter on the hoof looking for greener pastures. The popular contest last year moved out of the West Bottoms, where it started 36 years ago, to the Truman Sports Complex.

But potential scheduling conflicts with baseball’s World Series have led organizers to again move the barbecue competition, this time to Kansas Speedway. It’s an attractive venue with a lot of room for the 50,000 barbecue fans drawn to the aroma created by than 600 teams. The decision brings up key issues.
