The fate of Kansas City’s 1 percent earnings tax generated strong feedback in the latest Monday Poll.

The most striking result was that a large majority of the more than 500 responses to the poll wanted City Hall to approve less generous tax breaks to businesses in the future.

The full results:

1) I live in Kansas City and I’m definitely voting to extend the earnings tax.

2) It’s unfair to impose this tax on people who live in Johnson County or other parts of the region outside the limits of Kansas City.

3) Politicians like Mayor Sly James have gone overboard in threatening to cut police officers and firefighters if the tax does not pass.
