Monday poll results: Many think the worst about Planned Parenthood

This week’s poll took on the incendiary topic of the secretly taped and heavily edited videos attempting to show that Planned Parenthood has acted wrongly regarding the donation of fetal tissue for medical research.

A flurry of investigations here and around the nation has turned up nothing concrete, and Planned Parenthood officials say they have followed all laws.

But many of our poll participants plainly believe the worst about the health services provider, which offers abortions at some of its facilities. We know that at least one anti-abortion group, Kansans for Life, urged its supporters to participate in the unscientific poll.

With that in mind, the results:

1) The videos show Planned Parenthood profiting from the sale of organs and tissues of aborted fetuses. Congress should do whatever it takes to defund the organization.

2) I accept Planned Parenthood’s statement that it follows all laws. It is the victim of a smear campaign.

3) The videos have shown nothing illegal, but they expose employees as being insensitive.

4) Despite this controversy, fetal tissue and organ research is important for medical advances.
