Nori Aoki returns from disabled list for Royals as Christian Colon is sent down

Royals outfielder Nori Aoki was reinstated from the disabled list Friday and infielder Christian Colon was optioned to Class AAA Omaha.

Aoki, who was put on the disabled list June 21 with a groin strain, is batting .263 with 12 doubles two triples and 14 RBIs in 292 plate appearances. He appeared in three games on his rehab assignment at Class AA Northwest Arkansas and was one for 11.

Aoki was in the starting lineup for tonight’s game against the Tigers, batting leadoff and playing right field.

Colon, the Royals’ first-round pick in the 2010, hit .333 (four for 12) with two doubles and triple and one RBI in six games. He scored three runs.
