Danny Duffy’s ‘It’s a bear suit Joel’ quote now captured on a coffee mug
Danny Duffy let Fox Sports Kansas City broadcaster Joel Goldberg wear his bear costume during an interview after the Royals won the AL Central Division last year.
On Tuesday, Goldberg had a present for Duffy. A coffee mug with Duffy’s deadpan response to Goldberg’s first question painted on the side.
“It’s a bear suit Joel.”
Amy Meyer, an elementary school music teacher in Cheney, Kan., made the mugs, which are available on her Etsy page, SassyPearlsOfWisdom for $14. As Goldberg told Duffy about the mug before the Royals played the Mets on Tuesday, Duffy was thrilled.
“That’s sick,” he said of the mug.
In case you’ve forgotten it, here’s the bear suit scene in question, which aired on FSKC.
The camera focuses on Duffy’s face, surrounded by brown bear fur.
“What are you wearing,” Goldberg asks.
“A bear suit, wearing a bear suit Joel,” Duffy replies before saying how he had the costume in his locker from last year and had to keep a tradition going by wearing it.
“That’s it man, fur sure, fur sure,” Duffy says.
This isn’t the first example of Duffy-inspired art. Andrew Wade of Dodge City, Kan., got a tattoo on his arm of a bear-suit-clad Duffy.
