What will the Kansas City Royals’ World Series championship rings look like? We’ll know soon

This afternoon, the Royals will finally receive the ultimate prize in baseball:

Their World Series championship rings.

What will they look like? Will they be more ... blingy ... than last year’s American League championship rings? Is that even possible?

We suspect it is.

For an idea of what form they might take, we’ve included pictures of the last four World Series rings won by the respective champs of Major League Baseball: the Giants (twice, in 2012 and 2014), the Cardinals (in 2011) and the Red Sox (2013).

We can also daydream about this year’s World Series rings by remembering the rings the Royals earned for winning the 1985 World Series. Those were gold, with a single white diamond on the top set against a blue background.

Whatever design this year’s rings incorporate, one thing’s for sure: they’ll be treasured forever in Kansas City sports lore by players, team officials and of course the club’s fans.

The Royals’ World Series rings will be handed out before today’s game against the New York Mets. Fans at Kauffman Stadium are urged to be in their seats at 2:30 p.m. for the ceremony, which will start at 2:40 sharp.

First pitch is 3:15 today.
