Royals sign reliever Scott Downs, option Casey Coleman to Omaha

The Royals continue to tinker with their bullpen, signing lefty Scott Downs and adding him to the roster for Sunday’s series finale against the Indians.

The team optioned right-hander Casey Coleman to Class AAA Omaha. Coleman gave up a run in an appearance on Saturday night.

The White Sox released Downs, 39, on Thursday. He posted a 6.08 ERA with Chicago this season.
