Pro boxer Victor Ortiz visits Royals spring-training camp

Royals fans come from many different backgrounds.

In addition to the 800,000 or so people who showed up for the Royals’ victory parade last November, White House press secretary Josh Earnest is a fan. Ditto for professional boxer Victor Ortiz.

Ortiz, the former WBC welterweight champion from Garden City, Kan., was at spring-training camp in Surprise, Ariz., on Tuesday with his company Celebrity Sweat.

“We just came to pretty much motivate and inspire kids around the country to, you know, to get their workouts in and stay healthy,” Ortiz said.

Royals manager Ned Yost filled in Ortiz on his brick-breaking abilities.
