Royals manager Ned Yost met with reporters Tuesday morning and his knuckles were bruised and scabbed. His left forearm had a nasty gash that appeared to be swollen.

How’d that happen? Yost suffered the injuries breaking concrete blocks with his hands.

That’s not a joke.

Motivational speaker Donnie Moore visited the Royals, and part of his presentation involves breaking things that seem impossible. He ripped license plates in half as well as phone books.

“It’s fun,” Yost said. “Donnie Moore is a great speaker. He’s been with us for a couple of years doing this. He actually did one for us (at) Game 5 of the World Series in 2014, which was really cool. He came back and did it last spring and did it again this spring. We love having him here.”

Yost said the blocks fell on his hands as he broke them apart.

“You’ve got to power down through it, that’s for sure,” Yost said. “Nothing to it.”
