Royals left-hander Jonathan Dziedzic was hit with an oldie-but-goodie nickname and picked up a new one in camp.
“Eye-chart,” resurfaced when Dziedzic arrived. He’s had that one for years, starting with a summer team.
“They came out with a new one,” Dziedzic said. “They started calling me ‘Scrabble.’ ”
Such is life for the pitcher who went 10-6 with a 3.12 ERA for Class AA Northwest Arkansas last season with a name comes with a pronunciation guide upon introductions.
“It’s jej-ick,” said Dziedzic, who pitched one inning in Monday’s intrasquad scrimmage, yielding two runs.
