For the second straight year, The Star’s Andy McCullough has been named Missouri Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

McCullough, who covered the Royals for the past two seasons, will cover the Dodgers for the Los Angeles Times this year.

The NSSA named Mike Kelly of the Missouri Tiger Radio Network top Missouri sportscaster for 2015. It’s his third time receiving the honor. Bob Davis, of the Jayhawk IMG Sports Network, won the Kansas equivalent for the 14th time. Davis has announced plans to retire at the end of the basketball season. Bob Lutz of the Wichita Eagle won Kansas Sportswriter of the Year for the third time.

The NSSA’s National Sportswriter of the Year is Tom Verducci of Sports Illustrated; Doc Emrick won National Sportscaster of the Year for his work on NBC. Chris Berman (ESPN/ABC), Billy Packer (Raycom/NBC/CBS), David Halberstam (author) and Gary Smith (Sports Illustrated) were all named to the organization’s hall of fame.
