Justin Maxwell, Francisco Pena hit home runs in Omaha’s win

Francisco Pena and Justin Maxwell each hit a two-run home run Thursday in Class AAA Omaha’s 6-2 victory at Sacramento.

Pena’s blast was his 10th of the season and it came in the second inning. An inning later, Maxwell delivered his shot. Johnny Giavotella knocked in the other two runs in the seventh inning.

Starter Sugar Ray Marimon, 5-3, allowed two runs on five hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out one. Casey Coleman pitched three innings of one-hit relief for the Storm Chasers.

Shortstop Orlando Calixte’s RBI single in the seventh inning broke a tie and Class AA Northwest Arkansas went on to win 3-2 at Springfield. Left fielder Ethan Chapman had three hits and center fielder Lane Adams had two. Starter Sam Selman pitched to one batter in the sixth inning, and he gave up two runs on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Malcom Culver, 4-2, pitched two scoreless innings, Scott Alexander didn’t allow a run in his inning and Andrew Triggs pitched a perfect ninth for his seventh save.

DH Fred Ford hit a two-run homer as part of a five-run seventh inning as Class A Lexington beat Charleston 6-4. Shortstop Humberto Arteaga had an RBI triple in the eighth inning, and two doubles, the last of which scored a run in the seventh. Starter Matt Tenuta gave up three runs in 6 1/3 innings, and Tripp Davis, 2-0, got the win after allowing two hits in two-thirds of an innings. Jose Miguel Rodriguez gave up a run in two innings of work, but he got his fourth save.
