Royals sign Orlando Calixte to a minor-league contract
Infielder Orlando Calixte is back in the Royals organization.
On Thursday, the Royals announced that they signed Orlando Calixte to a minor-league contract. That came a day after the team declined to tender him a major-league contract for the 2016 season, and he was dropped from the Royals’ 40-man roster.
Calixte, 23, appeared in two games with the Royals in 2015, going hitless in three at-bats. He scored a run.
At Class AAA Omaha, Calixte hit .229 with eight homers, 22 stolen bases and 29 RBIs.
