Royals announce spring training schedule, including two games vs. Rangers in San Antonio

The Royals have released their spring training schedule for 2016, a slate of games that includes two appearances in San Antonio during mid-March against the Texas Rangers.

The World Series champions will open their spring schedule on March 2 in Surprise, Ariz., also against the Rangers, with their annual charity game. The two games in San Antonio will be played at the Alamodome.

Pitchers and catchers will report to Surprise on Feb. 18 and hold their first workout the following day. The full squad reports Monday, Feb. 22 and works out together for the first time on Feb. 23 in anticipation of Cactus League play.

The Royals open their regular season at Kauffman Stadium against the team they beat in the World Series, the New York Mets, on April 3.
