Mike Moustakas delivers key hit for Omaha

Third baseman Mike Moustakas broke a tie with a bases-clearing double in the third inning and Class AAA Omaha won 5-3 at Oklahoma City.

Moustakas went three for four with two doubles and scored a run. He is batting .296 in seven games.

Ryan Verdugo got the win as he allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out two and didn’t walk a batter in picking up his first win since last August during an injury-plagued season.

Spencer Patton pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 10th save.

Class AA Northwest Arkansas was held to a pair of hits in a 3-0 loss to San Antonio. Tim Melville gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits. Melville, 1-4, struck out four and walked four.

Jonathan Dziedzic ran into trouble in the fifth inning of Class A-Advanced Wilmington’s 6-4 loss at Carolina. The Blue Rocks got off to a promising start with three in the top of the first. Michael Antonio’s double scored a run and then he and Bubba Starling (who went one for four) scored on a single by Cody Stubbs. Carolina cut it to 3-1 when Stubbs hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. Dziedzic gave up four in the fifth, however, and Carolina held on for the win.

Starter Jake Junis allowed four runs in five innings and Class A Lexington lost 6-4 to Augusta. Junis allowed five hits, walked three and struck out two. Center fielder Dominique Taylor, second baseman Ramon Torres and first baseman Samir Duenez each had two hits for the Legends.
