Even if the World Series doesn’t return to Kansas City for Game 6, the Royals will play deeper into the calendar this year than at any other time in their franchise history.

Their 9-3 loss to the Mets on Friday night Game 3 was on Oct. 30, the Royals’ first game that late in the year. Game 4 will be the Royals’ first game on Halloween and Game 5 on Sunday will be the Royals’ first game in November.

The Royals’ previous latest game was Oct. 29 last year in a Game 7 loss to the Giants. The Royals won the 1985 World Series over the Cardinals in seven games on Oct. 27 and they lost Game 6 to the Phillies in the 1980 World Series on Oct. 21.
