Two extra sections of prime seating cut down on foul territory behind home plate at Citi Field for the World Series.
Three rows of seats enclosed by transparent safety glass were installed in front of the sections to the right and left of the dugouts.
The seats are slightly sunken below ground, allowing a view of the field for the previous front-row ticket holders. According to Newsday, the seats were not up for public sale: The third-base side is for Major League Baseball VIPs, including the commissioner, and the first-base side is for Mets VIPs.
The Mets also used the extra sections for the 2013 All-Star Game.
