Melky Mesa hit a pair of home runs Monday night, but Class AAA Omaha lost 5-4 at Nashville when Ramon Troncoso gave up a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Second baseman Jimmy Paredes had two hits, knocked in a run and stole a base. Starter P.J. Walters allowed four runs on five hits in five innings. He walked three and struck out three. Justin Marks threw three innings of shutout ball. He struck out three and allowed three hits.
J.C. Sulbaran allowed four runs (two earned) in five innings and Class AA Northwest Arkansas’ ninth-inning rally came up just short in a 4-3 loss at Tulsa. Down 4-1, the Naturals loaded the bases without a hit when Orlando Calixte walked, Mark Threlkeld was hit by a pitch and Edinson Rincon was walked. A wild pitch allowed Calixte to score. Micah Gibbs struck out and Ethan Chapman’s grounder scored Threlkeld. Justin Trapp struck out to end the game. Sulbaran walked two and struck out three, while allowing nine hits.

Class A Lexington rallied from a seven-run deficit and beat Hagerstown 10-8. Center fielder Alfredo Escalera-Maldonado had three hits, including a two-run homer, three RBIs and scored four runs. Second baseman Ramon Torres had three hits, including a double and a triple, scored twice and knocked in a pair. Right fielder Dominique Taylor had three hits, including a triple, and scored three times, while first baseman Frank Schwindel had three hits and two RBIs. Starter Andrew Edwards was touched for all eight runs on nine hits. He walked three and struck out four in 3 1/3 innings. Luis Rico, 2-4, shut things down after that, allowing just one hit in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out six.
