Ninth inning homer ties game for Omaha, which falls in 10

Matt Fields’ solo homer with a two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning tied the game Saturday night, but Class AAA Omaha gave up a run in the top of the 10th and lost 4-3 to New Orleans.

Ramon Troncoso, 1-3, allowed the run in the 10th. Despite an uneven outing, starter Sugar Ray Marimon allowed a two-run homer in the fourth inning, but that was it. He gave up nine hits in 6 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out eight. The Zephyrs had runners on base every inning against Marimon, who has a 2.48 ERA this season.

The game was tied 2-2 in the ninth when Buddy Baumann gave up a run as the Zephyrs took the lead. It was the first earned run against Baumann this season. However, Fields’ homer tied it for the Storm Chasers.

Fields scored twice and added a double to his home run. Designated hitter Brian Fletcher, catcher Jesus Flores and left fielder Carlos Peguero also had two hits each.
