Starling starts rally with his legs for Wilmington

Bubba Starling fueled an eighth inning rally with his legs and Christian Binford had another solid outing as Class A-Advanced Wilmington beat Lynchburg 3-2 on Friday.

Binford allowed two runs on three hits in seven innings. He struck out eight, walked two and saw he has a 2.04 ERA on the season.

The Blue Rocks were down 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Starling led off and was hit by a pitch. He stole second and took third on an error by the catcher. After Hunter Dozier struck out, Starling scored on a wild pitch.

After a Zane Evans struck out, Johermyn Chavez walked and moved to second on Jack Lopez’s single. Cam Gallagher walked to load the bases and Cody Stubbs also walked, forcing home Chavez with the go-ahead run.
