Alex Gordon will represent the Royals as the team’s nominee for Major League Baseball’s Roberto Clemente Award in 2015. The award celebrates players for their contributions as sportsmen and in their community.

Gordon supports Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a charity that raises money for children battling cancer.

Fans can vote for the award at ChevyBaseball.com. Voting ends on Oct. 9. The winner will be announced during the World Series.

Eric Hosmer was Kansas City’s nominee in 2014. The award went to Philadelphia shortstop Jimmy Rollins, who was traded to the Dodgers this past winter.
