Longball hurts Lamb, Collins pitches perfect inning

Left-hander John Lamb struck out seven in six innings Sunday, but took the loss as Class AAA Omaha fell 4-2 at New Orleans.

Lamb gave up three runs on four hits, and the runs scored on a two-run home run and a solo shot. Lamb also hit a batter. Of his 97 pitches, 66 were for strikes.

Justin Marks allowed a solo shot in the seventh inning, and Tim Collins pitched a perfect eighth inning. Collins struck out two and he threw 11 strikes among his 15 pitches. In two rehab appearances, Collins has struck out five of the six batters he faced.

Catcher Francisco Pena and left fielder Melky Mesa hit solo shots for the Storm Chasers. It was Pena’s fifth homer. First baseman Matt Fields had two hits, including a double.
